As of mid-October 2026, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not yet released the official JEE Main 2027 syllabus. The syllabus is typically published along with the information brochure on the official website (jeemain.nta.nic.in), expected around October–November 2026.
Until the official document is out, the syllabus followed in 2025 and 2026 remains the best reference. That version is based on the significant reduction introduced for JEE Main 2024, when NTA aligned the exam with the rationalised NCERT Class 11 and 12 curriculum. No major new deletions or additions were announced for 2025 or 2026, and most coaching and education platforms expect the same reduced syllabus to continue for 2027 unless NTA notifies otherwise.

Why the Syllabus Was Reduced Earlier
The 2024 cuts aimed to:
- Align the entrance exam with the post-rationalisation school curriculum.
- Reduce the overall study load and student stress.
- Focus on core concepts rather than peripheral or outdated topics.
Deleted / Reduced Topics (Still Applicable Based on Current Syllabus)
Here is a subject-wise summary of major topics removed or significantly curtailed since the 2024 revision. These are the chapters and sub-topics students should not prioritise unless the 2027 official syllabus reverses any of them.
Physics
- Communication Systems (entire unit removed)
- Specific sub-topics such as:
- Geostationary satellites
- Reynolds number and Newton’s law of cooling
- Carnot engine and its efficiency (detailed treatment)
- Free, forced and damped oscillations; resonance; Doppler effect in sound
- Potentiometer (principle and applications)
- Certain details on transistors (as amplifier/oscillator/switch in some lists)
- Some older experimental skills and measuring instrument precision topics
Vectors-related content saw further trimming in later updates (e.g., certain aspects of scalars, vectors, unit vectors, resolution).
Chemistry
Chemistry saw the largest number of complete chapter removals:
- States of Matter (entire chapter)
- Surface Chemistry (entire chapter)
- Hydrogen (entire chapter)
- s-Block Elements (entire chapter)
- General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Metals (entire chapter)
- Environmental Chemistry (entire chapter)
- Polymers (entire chapter)
- Chemistry in Everyday Life (entire chapter)
p-Block Elements was restricted mainly to general trends across Groups 13–18 rather than detailed group-wise study of preparations, properties, and compounds. Some basic measurement and older atomic model topics were also trimmed.
Mathematics
- Mathematical Induction (entire unit removed)
- Mathematical Reasoning (entire unit removed)
- Portions of Three-Dimensional Geometry (planes and certain equation forms limited; focus shifted more to lines in space)
- Selected sub-topics such as properties of binomial coefficients, certain special series, Rolle’s and Lagrange’s Mean Value Theorems (in some listings), and parts of coordinate geometry and vector algebra.
What Aspirants Should Do Now
- Continue preparation using the 2026 syllabus as the working document until NTA releases the 2027 version.
- Download the latest available official PDF from jeemain.nta.nic.in once it appears and cross-check for any changes.
- Focus on high-weightage core chapters that remain (Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Modern Physics, Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Algebra, etc.).
- Avoid spending significant time on the deleted chapters listed above unless the new syllabus explicitly restores them.
- Stay updated through the official NTA website and verified sources rather than unofficial claims of new deletions.
Note: Any claim of major new syllabus changes for 2027 should be verified only against the official NTA notification. Until then, the reduced syllabus framework introduced in 2024 continues to guide preparation for most students targeting JEE Main 2027.
